Hi there!
As a work team we have come together to do a charity event which is close to my heart .My mother Nancy is in a care home and only 74 yrs old has been diagnosed with dementia. Her diagnosis has developed in recent times and has fully consumed her to the point where she us unable to remember or recognize her own family. The travesty that the disease has inflicted on our relationship with our mother has been very traumatic. We are hopeful that any efforts we make will help other families not have to suffer in the future.
Therefore i am participating in the event. At just over 51 years old i plan to complete the 10 miles endurance event and with the help and support of my colleagues and employers collectively aim to raise £2000. The donation helps to support the cutting-edge research on the treatment of the disease.
Today, there are few treatments options for people with dementia. Existing treatments are limited in their scope and don’t work for all forms of dementia. But donations like yours are helping change this.
Current Alzheimer’s treatments in the UK only help to manage the symptoms, but thanks to research there is a new generation of treatments on the horizon that tackle the underlying disease.
