Story
Hi there,
In recent years, Tony (my friend and colleague)’s mother has unfortunately been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. He has seen first hand how heartbreaking the disease is - as of late his mother is unable to remember or recognise her own family. This has obviously greatly impacted Tony and his family, and therefore as a team, we want to take part in Tough Mudder 2024 to raise money for Alzheimer’s UK to help other families going through similar issues. On 15th June 2024, myself, Tony and our colleague Callum will complete the 10 mile long endurance event, and we aim to raise around £2000 collectively.
At present, there are few treatment options for people with dementia. Existing treatments are limited in their scope and don’t work for all forms of dementia. But donations like yours are helping change this.
Current Alzheimer’s treatments in the UK only help to manage the symptoms, but thanks to research there is a new generation of treatments on the horizon that tackle the underlying disease.
